Position: Fair Housing Investigator

The fair housing investigator conducts fair housing investigations, and provides community education/outreach regarding fair housing laws. The Fair Housing Investigator reports directly to the Program Supervisor for the PEI program. This position is responsible for providing Fair Housing services. The duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Conduct fair housing complaint intakes
Under the direction of the program supervisor, conduct investigations into allegations of housing discrimination
Assist in the preparation of reasonable accommodation requests, reasonable modification requests, and HUD complaints
Assist in the preparation of fair housing cases for enforcement
Provide support for FHIP testing program
Monitor newspaper and magazine article advertising to ensure that ads are non-discriminatory, referring possible violations to Program Supervisor for review
Conduct fair housing community outreach
Review data to identify fair housing issues
Work on other IFHMB program activities, as assigned
Maintain complete and accurate records of all activities related to various job duties and assignments
Other duties as assigned

Demonstrate a willingness to continue education/training to maintain and increase skills and abilities.
Demonstrate skill in the use of computer applications in word processing, and data management.
Knowledge of federal, state, and local fair housing laws, and landlord/tenant laws
College degree preferred. Two years of work experience in a public interest non-profit agency preferred.
Some travel and evening or weekend hours may be necessary in conjunction with outreach activities and/or fair housing training.
