About the E.A.C.H. Training Course for Jurisdictions

For the year of 2012-2013, Inland Fair Housing and Mediation Board, A HUD Approved Agency, has been awarded a Fair Housing Initiative Program, Education and Outreach Initiative Grant through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to partner with twenty-two (22) pre-selected San Bernardino County jurisdictions to provide education to its employees and decision makers.

The E.A.C.H. (Equal Opportunity and Choice in Housing) training course for jurisdictions is a FREE, 4-hour advanced training course offered in two (2) parts of approximately two (2) hours each.  During this interactive training course, employees who deal directly with housing such as community development, zoning, planning, and rehabilitation departments will learn about:

  • The history and importance of Fair Housing and Equal Choice in Housing
  • The thirteen protected categories under Federal and California State laws
  • The rights of individuals living with disabilities
  • The responsibilities of HUD-funded Community Planning and Development program grant recipients
  • How to effectively conduct fair housing planning to identify and remove barriers to housing choice
  • How to promote equal access and choice in housing through affordable housing, transportation, and zoning elements
  • Consequences for fair housing violations and best practices for compliance

E.A.C.H training course participants will receive a copy of the written course curriculum. The curriculum is available in English and Spanish. It is recommended that both parts of the course be scheduled within a 30-day time period. Participants must attend both trainings in order to receive certification of course completion.
